Importantly, this paper shows what is possible when research is designed for inclusion from the start. Nearly 50,000 children and 74,000 parents are taking part in GenV, including families from metropolitan, regional and rural communities, and from many different cultural and language backgrounds. The cohort profile describes who is participating in GenV, how families were invited to take part, and how the study reflects the diversity of communities across Australia. This helps researchers understand who the data represents, and why this matters for producing findings that are fair, relevant and useful for everyone. As GenV enters its next phase of data access and collaboration, this publication becomes an important resource – laying the groundwork for national and international research partnerships.
